Liposomal Vitamin C with R-Lipoic Acid
50 ml
Item Catalog Number: 60010EU
As an antioxidant, vitamin C neutralizes free radicals in the body and protects tissues from oxidative stress. Vitamin C also promotes the formation of collagen, the connective tissue that supports arterial walls, skin, bones and teeth, supports the immune system and helps regenerate other antioxidants, including vitamin E.
Simultaneously, lipoic acid has the ability to stimulate a powerful bodily defense and detox system, where naturally produced glutathione is used to remove unwanted substances from the body.
Benefits at a Glance:
The absorption of conventional oral Vitamin C diminishes rapidly as the dose increases and only a small amount makes it into your cells where it's needed most.
Quicksilver combines the power of pharmaceutical-grade Vitamin C with a proprietary liposomal delivery system. We nano-encapsulate Vitamin C, allowing it be absorbed directly to the cells of your body. Our liposomal Vitamin C begins absorption as soon as it hits your mouth and enables high-level dosing without intravenous application.
Lipoic acid has the ability to stimulate a powerful bodily defense and detox system, where naturally produced glutathione is used to remove unwanted substances from the body. A fully functional glutathione system synergistically supports the avtivity of vitamin C.

Liposomal delivery uses tiny phospholipid spheres (liposomes) to encapsulate nutrients. These liposomes are similar to cell membranes, allowing them to merge with intestinal cells and release nutrients directly into cells. This dramatically improves absorption compared to standard forms.
For vitamin C, standard oral supplements are limited by intestinal absorption - saturation occurs around 200mg per dose. Liposomal delivery bypasses this limitation, allowing much higher blood levels. Studies show liposomal vitamin C produces blood levels 1.5-2 times higher than equivalent doses of standard vitamin C.
Alpha-lipoic acid exists in two forms: R-lipoic acid (natural form) and S-lipoic acid (synthetic). R-lipoic acid is more bioavailable and bioactive. It's unique among antioxidants as it's both water and fat-soluble, protecting cells in all environments. R-lipoic acid also regenerates other antioxidants including vitamin C, vitamin E, and glutathione.
The combination of vitamin C and R-lipoic acid creates synergy. Vitamin C works primarily in water-soluble compartments, R-lipoic acid in both water and fat-soluble areas. R-lipoic acid regenerates oxidized vitamin C, extending its antioxidant activity. Together they provide comprehensive cellular protection.
Enhanced absorption means lower doses can achieve therapeutic blood levels. This is valuable for people with absorption issues or those wanting high-dose vitamin C benefits without taking large amounts. The improved bioavailability also reduces GI distress common with high-dose conventional vitamin C.
R-lipoic acid adds benefits beyond antioxidant synergy. It supports healthy blood sugar metabolism by improving insulin sensitivity. It supports mitochondrial function as a cofactor for energy production. Research suggests R-lipoic acid may support healthy aging through multiple mechanisms.
Liposomal products are often liquid or gel formulations. Follow label directions for dosing. Many people take on an empty stomach for best absorption, though it can be taken with food if preferred. Holding liquid formulations in the mouth briefly before swallowing may enhance absorption further.
Consistency matters for antioxidant support. Daily use maintains stable antioxidant status. During times of increased need (illness, high stress, intense training), doses can often be increased. The improved tolerability of liposomal delivery makes higher doses more comfortable than conventional vitamin C.
Liposomal vitamin C is generally very well-tolerated. The high bioavailability means even substantial doses rarely cause the diarrhea common with high-dose conventional vitamin C. People with kidney stones or kidney disease should discuss vitamin C supplementation with healthcare providers. Those with hemochromatosis should use vitamin C cautiously as it increases iron absorption.
R-lipoic acid is well-tolerated but people with diabetes should monitor blood sugar as it may improve insulin sensitivity. Those on blood sugar-lowering medications may need dose adjustments under medical supervision.
